As it turns out, Archbishop John Nienstedt has published a homily that he will deliver today – Gaudete Sunday – in which he apologizes to the Catholic people of the Archdiocese for the mistakes that bishops have made in the past. He stated that we have a right to be upset and disheartened.
While it may be a move in the right direction, that fact that he excludes himself from these bad decisions and refuses to take responsibility for his own miss-deeds falls FAR short of the sort of apology that one would expect from a “man of God.”
C’mon John. You can do better than that!
Heed the song of Gaudete.
Walk the walk; don’t settle for talking the talk and making excuses.
